  1. I love Pachinko, this news knocked me down because the idea of a TV adaptation is so exciting! I looked it up, and Lee Min-ho has been cast as Hansu, which… will certainly be a turn for him? I wonder if he can do justice to the character? I won’t reveal anything for those who haven’t read the book, but Hansu is complicated, the kind of character you could debate on for hours and never successfully reach a conclusion about. The fact that Min-jin Lee managed to make him sympathetic at all just demonstrates what an incredible talent she is.

    1. Oh wow, Hansu?! I am… very surprised by this. I always pictured him being played by someone older. And incredibly suave and charismatic. You’re right about how there’s a lot going on under the surface with Hansu. I’m not convinced LMH can pull that off.

      1. I imagine Hansu older as well – he’s already a full adult at the beginning of the story, when Sunja is just a young girl. Maybe a Shin Ha-kyun or even Kim Byung-chul type would be good? Someone with far, far more gravitas, and the potential to play skeevy really well.
